more about my lectures

i need to get 30ECTS and this is why i had to choose 9 lectures :)
exam in finnished i passed about month ago, and i got 5 :) (2ECTS)
today is the last day of Introduction to Studying Multimedia Authoring System (3ECTS)
of every lecture there are 3 exams, we have to choose good time and to sign up at least one week before deadline :)

another lectures:

1. Cultural Aspects of Management

Organiser: Faculty of Public Administration
Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course develops understanding of public management as culturally based
practice. The emphasis is on national and organizational cultures.
Completion of the course: Exam based on
lectures and literature, workshops
First time of exam is 10.03. (i will be in Poland :P)

2. Culture, History and Identity

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course develops understanding of different cultures and their relation to cultural and historical backgrounds.
Course content: The course introduces the concepts of culture, history, and identity and explores them from the cultural studies’ point of view. The course examines a few examples of different European cultures.
Methods of study: Lectures 24 hours
Completion of the course: Studia Generalia lectures and independent studying. Exam based on the lectures and literature.

3. Semiotics and Cultural Research Methods

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course familiarizes the students with semiotics and cultural studies.
Course content: Basic concepts of semiotics. The major schools and methods of semiotics. An overview of the main movements of cultural research.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours or selfstudy
Completion of the course: (Take-home) exambased on lectures and/or literature.

4. Introduction to studying Multimedia Authoring Systems

Credits: 3 ECTS credits
Objective: To acquaint students with studies in Multimedia Authoring Systems programme and to provide students with skills and information to improve their academic performance.
Course content: General information about :
1) studies in Multimedia Authoring systems and about the student’s own study in the programme;
2) the computing facilities and services offered by the University of Vaasa;
3) information retrieval;
4) portfolio assessment;
5) guidelines of academic writing.
Methods of study: Exercises 8 hours
Completion of the course: Participation in exercises and an accepted presentation

5. Introduction to Multimedia and Hypertext

Credits: 3 ECTS credits
Objective: Goal is to offer basic historical and technical information concerning multimedia and hypertext. Approach is mainly theoretical, but also some practical applications are presented.
Course content: An introduction to the theoretical background of hypertext, multimedia and hypermedia as well as the applications of hypermedia.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours
Completion of the course: Exam

6. Project

Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: To apply the learned techniques and software in practice.
Course content: Each student conducts an individual multimedia project using the skills acquired during the programme. Students are encouraged to select their own subjects according to their study field. Instead of a multimedia presentation the project can consist of an extensive essay about the theoretical foundations of multi- and hypermedia from the point of viewof their field of study.
Methods of study: Lectures 10 hours andindependent studying
Completion of the course: An accepted projectwork

7. Introduction to Electronic Publishing

Credits: 4 ECTS credits
Objective: To give the student the ability to create and maintain www-pages based on html and css. The student is also able to use the basic features of the digital image processing application used during the course. Also theories concerning presenting information in information networks are discussed.
Course content: Creating www-pages. Introduction to present and future ways of communication especially on the Internet. An introduction to the digital image and digital image processing.
Methods of study: Lectures, 30 hours
Completion of the course: Active participation in the lectures and an accepted presentation

8. Introduction to Cultural Studies

Organiser: Faculty of Humanities
Credits: 5 ECTS credits
Objective: The course familiarizes the student with the fields of cultural studies.
Course content: An overview of the main movements of cultural studies and research.
Methods of study: Lectures 20 hours or selfstudy
Completion of the course: (Take-home) exam based on lectures and/or literature.

riga, tallinn, helsinki

awesome trip:)
awesome expierences :)
it's difficult to stop thinking about those cities :) tallinn and riga look close to warsaw :) old towns are very similar :) also prices are better than in finland :)
i felt like at home :P
next wednesday i'm going to warsaw and i think that this trip is the reason of my decision :)
helsinki :) you know :) hell and sin - and everything is clear :)

i encourage everybody who wants to see something more than tampere, turku and helsinki to go to tallinn and riga :) from tampere's airport (maybe it isnt look good but you know it was flight with raynair :P ) you can go for 15€ (?) by plane to riga, than bus, it costs about 9€, to tallinn, and by ferry to helsinki :P

i'm waiting to the next trip: Lapland :)

courses

i have to write sth about my courses.
Yesterday i had got first lecture of Project :)
before that i didnt know what it will be.. no i know sth :)
we have to make a Project :) :P
in groups, and a size of group depend on topic we choose :)
we can make this project about everything so it will not so easy :) this can be sth like website :)
this course is 5ECTS and i think that it will more interesting thatn another 5ECTCs lectures :)

anfortunetly i wasn't on lecture of Introduction of Hypertext and Multimedia so i cant write anthing about it :) but i'm sure that it was very good lecture as usually :) i wasn't on it because on thurstday i had returned from me Riga-Tallinn-Helsinki trip and i had no power to stand up at 9am :P
On previous lectures we have learnt about history and terminology of Hypertext and also sth about WWW. the lectures are always very interesting and i'm very sad that i missed last one :(

maybe next time i will write sth about my trip :)

Snow & Sun

After we arrived here was no snow (like in whole Europe). But now we have got a lot of it in Vaasa. Sometimes when the wind no blows and the temperature is higher than -24C :) going to the walk is very good idea to take some fresh breaths and anjoy this beautiful place. Here i put some photos of Vaasa, snow, me and me friend from Poland, Ania ( i will write more about this crazy girl later :P)

Why Finland?

In Poland we can go to exchange in Erasmus program when we are after second year in our studies. I have known that i want to go somewhere but by long time i couldnt choose country:)
'maybe France, close to Poland, cheap trip when i decided to visit home'
'maybe some warm countries: Spain, Portugal...'
'maybe not so expensive country.. maybe like Hungury..'
i was thinking that when comes time to choose i will have got huge problem with it..

But after some months i read book, by finnish writer Johanna Sinisalo.
Original title of this book is "Ennen päivänlaskua ei voi", the english one is "Not before sundown". Book about amazing friendship between human and troll.
After i read this i knew the place where i wanted to go: Finland.

Now i am here for 40days and

i cant realize when this time has gone :)
I have got a lot of fun with people from whole world :)
And as you know i study Psychology so i really like destroy stereotypes :)

i have to tell this:

Finns are not shy,
Finns are not quiet,
is it not hard to have fun with them, to known them. They have fun all the time :) And it is easy to enjoy them :)

Stuents are the same everywhere :) - thats all :)

everything is cool here and i dont think about temperature and wheater (the lowest temperature was -28 but it wasnt so bad to survive :P)

i am very happy about my choice :) Even i had a chance to change it i wouldnt :P
Because Funland ups.. Finland is unbelievable place :)

Short Introduction :)

Hard to start :)
My name is Magda, i came from Poland, where i study Psychology in Management at Leon Kozminski Academy.

This is why i choose lectures from Faculty of Humanities, they are linked with my home studies :)
I also choose Finnish Course and i am very happy that this is finished now:) i like this language, is very strange and funny :) sounds really nice :) but the lectures were for two weeks, every day, at 8am.. it was horrible.. but i passed the exam and i'm happy :) i have got my first 2ECTS and i need only 28 more :)
Writting on this blog is my 'homework', necessary to pass course of Introduction to MULTIMA.. So u know, i will be writting about school, trips and only a little about parties :)
i will write more next time :P
